How do you think sexual violence has become and grown over the years and how could we help those with the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder realize what is causing them health issues?

Nearly 1 in 5 Women in U.S. Survey Say They Have Been Sexually Assaulted
I believe that when men had more rights than women they thought that they had more power over women and this is what led to how men treat women and also others. Also a huge amount of money has been wasted on medicine and medical practices because of symptoms from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that are caused by sexual violence in someones past. These symptoms are very common and the person might not even know that it is because of sexual violence they experienced.

I think that over the years sexual violence has grown because the men thought they had more power over women in the past. Also i think the media has had a big effect because if people see something in a movie or on TV they would think that it is okay to do.
ReplyDeletei agree with eric, if women dont report the rape or sexual incident than there is no help out there for them unless they seek it themselves. But if they reported it, they could prevent it from happening to someone else and find a way to over come Post Traumatic Stress disorder.
ReplyDeletei agree with eric but most the women do not report because they are afraid.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alayna about the fact that sexual violence has grown over the years. I believe this is so because as the years go by women are gaining more rights and becoming more independent, men might be feeling a little lonely and left behind so they're resorting to violence. I agree with the other guys, women should report the incident as soon as it happens and call a doctor if they're feeling unusual or unhealthy.
ReplyDeleteIf women don't report the abuse then I honestly don't see how they can seek help. When they do report it, someone can refer them to a doctor who can help them learn how to cope with the situation. Until they tell someone they can't move on from the situation they are in.
ReplyDeleteWomen that do not report if they have been abused or not can not be helped. We can only help the ones that do report. The only way i feel we can help is if we direct them to places they can go and see someone who either helps them or can talk to them. Also sexual violence over the years has decreased i feel. The reason could be because women are scared and do not want to report it or it could be that it is just not happening anymore.
ReplyDeletewhy does the women that get abuse do not report? that is what i am trying to say that most of the women is afreid of what would happen if the report.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cori there isn't really much that can be done unless these women who are sexually assaulted report what happens. These issues have no real answer, sure there may be things we can do to prevent some of these issues. For this issue we need to leave it up the people who it is happening to otherwise there is nothing we can do.
ReplyDeleteI think the only way things will get better is if women reports a sexual assault. If they don't report then nobody is going to help them. If women don't report then this problem is only going to get worse because men might think they will be able to get away with it easier.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone because if women don't tell someone about what happened then they will get post tramatic stress disorder because its all blocked inside and they aren't letting it out. Also I think that the only way that we could help these woman and even men from doing this to women would be for them to get help and have them become better off with the world other then being afraid of it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with cori too. The woman will only be able to seek help and get over her problem if she seeks it herself. There is no other way.
