When the terrorist attack on 9/11 happened in 2001, the United States declared war to try and get rid of al-Qaeda. On May 1st, 2012 Obama made a surprise speech in Afghanistan talking about how their goal was not create a new country in Americas image. People believe that in the next couple years more troops will get brought into Afghanistan. Some of the Americans agree with the speech while others disagree, and say that we start all these wars that we cannot finish. Do you think Obama should keep troops over there to help re-build we have ruined or completely take them out and let Afghanistan re-build?

I am kind of stuck in thw middle because i think he should take troops out only because we need to help our own country and save our people and not help other before our own. But also i think we should keep them because if we dont Afghanistan wont or wont want to do it them selves. Also they dont have enough power or supplies to rebuild their country without our(u.s) help.
ReplyDeleteI think we should take our troops out. Before we go into other countries we should fix what we have in our country. We should stop risking American lives out there. But i also think that we should keep troops to help rebuild just start no more violence.
ReplyDeleteIam stuck in the middle just like melanie. I think that Obama should take the troops out because its not our country, we have our own country to take car of and right now our own country is in trillions of dollars of debt so we need all the attention and care we can get as alayna mentioned also. At the same time I feel that if we take our troops out all the lives lost and effort used would go down the drain because the country will just go back to what it was. This could also create further problems with Al Queda because it would give them an opportunity to make a come back without all the U.S troops getting in the way. For now things should just stay the way they are untill we can come up with a better solution.
ReplyDeleteI think we should leave just enough troops to monitor the situation and to help Afghanistan. If we help them out enough, they could be a valuable ally in the Middle East.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we should take our troops out yet. There has been a war in Afghanistan since the Soviet invasion in 1979. We should stay there to make sure that Taliban and Al Qaeda forces no longer have a chance to control the country. We should also make sure that Afghanistan has a stable government and a stable social structure. Then once everything is under control, troops should start to withdraw from the area.
ReplyDeleteI agree with melanie and alayna the we should take some troops out but only when we resolve the problems at hand, as well as after we help fix the damage that is done in Afghanistan. Because they don't have the suppies and/or the force to re-build the country. Nor do they have the the government stable enough to govern the country back to its stability needed to with hold a good government. And as soon as Afghanistan is stable enough we can take not just some but all troops out.
