Last month, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff visited the United States. Despite the fact that President Rousseff has led her country to tremendous economic growth and is, arguably, the second-most powerful president in the Americas, President Obama's visit with her was brief and lacked all the luxury that is usually offered when foreign leaders visit the White House.

Why might President Obama have treated President Rousseff do coolly, and do you think he made a mistake in doing so? Be sure that your answer is thoughtful and reflects your reading of the article.
From reading the article it seems like President Obama treated President Rousseff differently is because Brazil is having alot of economic growth. They are becomming more powerful and is comming very close to our country. I think Obama shouldnt have done this because its not a way that the president should be acting, and also becuase they could later on help us out with oil and much more that they have.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the article the reason that President Dilma Rousseff was treated so cooly by President Obama would be because its "just how Washington does business." Though Brazil is doing well economically now it has always been seen as almost like a third world country by America, so just the thought that they're doing better than us is just ludicrous, unbelievable. Obama looks down on Latin America he seems to look down on it thinking that America is above it and not geographically. What Obama should really be thinking about, which is something Alayna mentioned, is what Brazil can do to help US. President Rousseff shouldve been treated with more than just luxury because there is still much this country can learn from others and also you never know what kind of problem might come up in the future, so it wouldn't hurt us if we had another ally.
