In the Article Mitt Romney and Obama are in disagreement. Romney says that we have too small of a navy to protect ourselves and that since we have less soldiers they have to be out on deployment longer. He also argues that we are spending too much money on newer technology that we shouldnt be becuase we are already ahead of all the other countries. Obama argues that we have the strongest and best Navy in the world expecially with all our new technology so we dont need as many soldiers. Do you think we are in any danger becuase our navy is shrinking? Do you agree with Obama or Romney and why?

Although the Navy is getting small, if we are already ahead of everyone else with all our new technology, I don't see the need to have more soldier get enlisted. in the article Romney says that the navy is now smaller than its ever been since 1917. But it also states that we have 11 air crafts and no other country has more than 2. It also says that other country my have more warships but they aren't meant to operate far from home. The United Sates has 285 commissioned surface warships, and is said to have about 300 but 2019. It is also stated that the U.S. has the strongest navy. Therefore we shouldn't get more men/women enlisted into the Navy.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the point that our Navy is already big enough and we should cut spending on building new ships. I feel that in our day and age where new technology is being created almost every day, we should focus more on spending our time and money researching and developing new technology that the Navy's current ships can implement.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else on the fact that the navy is getting smaller, but as the old saying goes its quality over quantity and the quality of our navy is way better than the rest of the world's navy groups. Therefore making our country safer not more dangerous. This increse in quality paves the way for the U.S. not having to enlist and ship more of our people off, which preserves more lives. I agree with Obama more than Romney because, according to the article, Romney wants to increase the ship building rate. By doing this Romney will do nothing but increase our ever increasing debt because we already have, as Marissa had stated earlier, more aircrafts than everyone else and even though we have less warships the ones we have are way more functional than everyone elses. So yes i agree that Obama has the right idea about how to handle our navy.
