Read this article carefully.

Why is there controversy over this issue, and what do you think the best solution is?

Please note that you will have to do a close  reading of this article, significant independent thinking, and perhaps some additional research to thoroughly respond to this post.

  1. The main controversy is that the roman catholic bishops, charities, schools and universities have protested to this new idea of coverage for contraceptives for women free of charge. They protested because of their religion and beliefs. The democrats are fighting for the coverage of birth control under the new health care law because otherwise its out of reach for many women. I think that the best solution is to go with the plan or at least give them the choice if they wanna have it or not, women should be able to choose if they want it or not.

  2. I agree with Alayna that women should be able to chose if they want to take the contraceptives or not. Also, i think that it would be a smart thing to do if they did so they wouldn't have to worry about getting pregnant and stuff. But, its also based off their beliefs and religion for it.

  3. I agree with them that the women should be able to choose if they want the plan. Because some religions and schools don't believe in that kind of stuff.

  4. I also agree that women should be able to take the contraceptives. I think that people that don't believe in these drugs do not have to take them, but that doesn't mean that all women shouldn't be able to take them.

  5. The issue with contreception is that the Catholic Church doesn't believe in it. Same for certain university's, and hospitals. That is why Obama is shying away from the new bill. If I was Obama I would pass it because, I believe people first came to this country to ESCAPE THE CHURCH RULE. So why, again do we let the church make the desicion. It the Senates and Presidents desicion. I would pass it.

  6. I am in agreement with everyone else. Women should definitely have their own say in whether or not to prevent conception and impregnation. Whether or not these people and organizations (roman catholic bishops, charities, schools and universities) are accepting of it or not. Why should a religion and universities tell you that you are not allowed to prevent conceiving a child. It should a personal choice. I feel it should stay covered, like Alayna said that contraceptives are out of reach for many women.
